Shopping healthy can be overwhelming and stressful!  Do you feel confused when you try to buy healthful foods?  Hundreds of new products appear in the supermarkets every day, each one affirming to be the next best thing.  With as much variety to our reach it is difficult to know which products are the healthful ones for our family.  I have great news! For that reason we wished to share the most important tools for the care of your health. Let us begin with the food purchases since this task can be a bit confusing.

A healthy body begins with your commitment to adopt healthful eating habits.  That does not mean that you are going to sacrifice your favorite meals. Simply it means that you are going to learn to adopt certain healthful habits.  Try to adopt these tips before planning your next trip to the supermarket

Simple steps to fill your grocery car with healthful purchases:

If you don’t see it, you don’t buy it
Try not to walk by aisles with foods that usually make you lose control.
For example, if you eat the pack of cookies that you usually purchase, before arriving at the house, then don’t even cruise the aisles full of cookies and candies.

Prepare a shopping list
A well organized list will help to find the foods you that you need quickly. Try to buy ingredients for your daily meals weekly and your basic products, monthly.

Shop in 30 minutes
Try to get in and out of the grocery store in 30 minutes.  This habit will help you to only buy the amount that you are going to use in the week.

Buy foods in season
Seasonal foods are usually fresher, have better flavor and are less expensive.  Plan your meals using foods in season.

Eat before shopping
People who are hungry tend to buy foods that were not planned.  Eat before you go shopping to help you stay within your list.

Plan your menus
Be creative with the preparation of your meals
Plan your weekly menus
Change your menus to match foods in season
Keep a shopping list handy (see sample list below)
